My latest quilt, King Eider, was inspired by my career as a wildlife biologist and specifically, working on migratory bird conservation. In 2014, I had the pleasure of helping one of my staff band wood ducks in Fallon, NV. This was a multi-year study to understand the distribution of nesting wood ducks in this part of the state. Holding a arm full of live ducks was awesome. I chose the King Eider for my first waterfowl quilt as they are such a cool looking bird. Other waterfowl themed quilts are definitely being planned. A table runner with multiple species would be awesome. Interested?
